Handbags/Purses are fashionably designed bags and are meant to carry
small personal items and accessories. The handbags are also called
tote bags, shopping bags, clutch,
purse, sling bags and satchel.Tote bags are used for carrying items like money, lipstick, candy, spare change, makeup, hairbrush, tissues etc. The large sized leather handbags are great for shopping, traveling and in picnics.
The different types of handbags are:
- Manbags/Murse are purses carried by men as a
smaller alternative to a backpack. The manbags are used as office
bags or small travel bags. They have many pockets of different sizes
with zips or magnetized buttons.
- Shoulder Bags have a strong shoulder strap and
are used usually as shopping bags or traveling bags. They have a
flap closure or zips or Velcro bands. These bags are spacious with
many pockets and divider flaps.
- Evening Bags are beautifully designed clutch or
tote bags that are small in size and used for carrying basic makeup
and cell phone. The bags have exquisite zari, zardozi, bead work and
patterns.
- Shopping Bags are huge bags used for shopping
and carrying things. They are made of strong leather that can
withstand wear and tear. The shopping bags have many pockets with
zips or Velcro bands.
- Touch Bags are made of soft leather with many
handy pockets. Usually oblong or square in shape and acts as a good
accessory with winter clothing. It is used as a small travel bag.
- Fur handbags are made of fur and leather. The
fur used is usually rabbit, squirrel, fox, beaver, muskrat, goat,
sheep, lamb and coyote pelt. Recent years have seen a use of
synthetic fur along with leather to make exquisite fur handbags. The
bags are either evening bags or tote bags used for shopping and
traveling.
- Coin purse is a small purse meant for holding
money and credit cards. It is a small rectangular or oblong purse
with a central zip.
- Clutch is a medium or small sized purse with a
handle and is carried/clutched in hand. The clutch bag may have a
fine chain or strap that adds to its overall beauty. They are
usually evening bags with embellishments and adornments.
- Tote is a larger bag with handles. Used as a
shopping bag and a picnic or beach bag. The sizes of tote vary from
small to large sizes. It may have shoulder straps or handles. The
tote bags could be zippered or closed with Velcro bands or with
magnetized buttons.
- Pocketbook is a square or rectangular zippered
purse that is used to carry essential documents and money clips. It
has many internal pockets with or without zips or magnetized
buttons.
- Satchel is a type of tote that is mainly used
as a school/college bag and shopping bag. It has strong and long
straps and may be slung across the chest. Different pockets for
storing items are attached to the outside and may be zippered or
closed with Velcro bands.
- Security Purse has an invisible stainless steel strap sown into the fabric and a protectent on the main zipper. Ideal for use while traveling.
Leather hand bags are available in every shade of the color palette and shape and size. They are attractively designed with cross stitch patterns, aplique work, zari, embroidery and bead work. Classic designs of handbags are unadorned and very stylish in appearance. The leather used is soft cow leather, goat and lamb. Suede and Nubuck is also used.
The distinct features of handbags are:
