Leather
Briefcases are narrow box-shaped bags with a handle on the end. The
briefcases are also called portfolio, folio
case and attache case. The name briefcase is
derived from the legal term "brief" that means a summary of a
law case. So the bag that held briefs of different legal cases was named
"Briefcase".Leather attache cases are used mainly for carrying papers and other documents. They also carry an assortment of office supplies like pens, pencils, staplers, etc. making it easier to work anywhere. Briefcases are an important business accessory and are usually used by office goers and lawyers. They can also be used as light weight luggage for travel purposes.
The different types of briefcases are:
- Portfolio is a briefcase without handles. It is
carried in hand or under the arm.
- Folio case is a portfolio with a retractable
handle.
- Attache case is leather box-style case
stretched over a hinged frame that opens into two compartments.
Leather briefcases are available in many sizes and in varying shades of black, brown, maroon and cream. The leather used is also of differing quality thereby adding a classic and sophisticated look to the leather briefcase. Nubuck leather, cow leather, goat and sheep leather is used for manufacture of leather briefcases.
Leather briefcases have the following features like:
- Box like structure with hinges.
- The upper flap has many pockets for storing stationery, files, PDA, etc.
- The lower box has straps to hold files etc.
- Side pockets in the lower half to store staplers, refills, etc.
- The briefcase has a strong moveable handle · Initials are sometimes inscribed on the briefcase.
- Numbered locking mechanism is present in some models of briefcases.
- Some briefcases may have an adjustable shoulder strap.
