Leather
Backpacks are leather sacks that are carried on one's back and secured
with two straps. The straps go over the shoulders and may have another
strap that is tied across the stomach. The term "backpacks"
was coined in United States of America in 1910. Backpacks are also known
as knapsacks, haversacks, rucksacks,
packsacks and as Bergen (backpacks
with a frame that were used by British Armed forces).Knapsacks are used as bags for storing equipment required for backpacking, as handbags, school bags, for carrying laptops, cameras, as picnic hampers, to carry skateboards and sometimes even as hydration packs that have an attached tube to facilitate the wearer to drink water/juice.
Backpacks are of different types:
- Body Backpacks
are backpacks having internal frames that mould to the back of the
wearer. They are used as camping and backpacking bags.
- Drawstring Backpacks
have drawstrings instead of zips.
- Laptop Backpacks
are designed and used specifically to carry laptops.
- Rolling Backpacks
have a long cylindrical shape. They are used for storing rolled up
bedding usually by soldiers and backpackers.
- School Backpacks are designed with divider flaps to carry school books by children.
Leather haversacks are available in every shade of the color palette. The bags are designed to provide maximum storage space for different types of equipment and things. Leather used is strong and resistant to the constant wear and tear. Cow leather, goat and sheep leather is used for manufacture of leather rucksacks.
Leather packsacks have the following features like:
- Voluminous bags that have two-three main compartments with
divider flaps
- The backpack may have internal or external frame
- The external frame is strapped on the back and the leather sack
is strapped to it
- Lightweight Aluminium tubing is used to form the external frame
- Internal frame is made of polymer or lightweight metal and is
often designed to fit to the back of the wearer
- The backpacks have lash points on the outside to strap bulky
items.
- Multiple pockets of differing shapes and sizes are provided
throughout the bag
- Strong straps are provided that go over the shoulder and some are tied across the stomach
